175 weeks agoWhat the hell is Padabam?

A little explanation. I call this project of mine padabam just to call it something, however the name has a short history. A few years ago I wanted to write a personal database for everyone (probably shareware). I believed that there's a niche for software that is simple to use and works with users data, in a flexible way. What I had in mind was an accessible personal database without crust (that was a pun). MS solution can be good when used by professional developer in a company, but learning it and using it to implement databases for personal use is not worth the time. So what I wanted to write and sell was Personal DataBase Manager, or PDBM for short. Abbreviation was no good, so I added some vowels and ended up with 'Padabam' which also has a slight un-corporate overtone to my ears, which is what I wanted. A few years later I got back to this idea and after some thinking found out that this time if this thing is to be done it should be done online. Which brings me here, writing this blog. I am not planning to make this program and make money off it, I am doing this for free (check out the Creative Commons Public Domain button on the right) and the present Padabam project has promises of becoming much bigger than what I was planning back in the day. It's easier to show than explain, so I will get back to you with more code and hopefully technology demos next time.
